DesignWare 3.3, by Design Imaging Group

Plant Search

The Plant Search program is used to locate plants in DesignWare 3.3. It can be accessed from the main menu by selecting Training / Plant Search. Plant Search also has the ability to add new libraries, created by the user, to the original list of plant libraries.

The Main window, as shown below, is used to locate a specific plant in DesignWare 3.3. When a plant is selected the following information about the plant is displayed: a thumbnail image of the plant, the location of the plant image, the location of the library file containing the plant and the library dropdown menu location.

The selected plant can be quickly added to a design, if the contents of the Image File Location is copied and then pasted into the File Name text box on the File / Import Object window.

Create a Design

Its easy to design with DesignWare 3.3. In just a few steps, a simple photo-realistic picture can be created.

DesignWare has a large selection of simple and sophisticated tools, allowing the user to create high quality photo-realistic pictures to show customers. This involves working with objects (plants, trees fences, etc) and textures (grass, pavers, roofing, siding, etc).

The example below involves placing a couple objects (plants) on a background picture. More complicated designs usually involve defining areas to be filled textures and changing the perspective of the pattern to produce an illusion of depth.

Start DesignWare 3.3 - Double click the DesignWare 3.3 icon on your desktop.

Select a Background Picture - Under the File menu choice, select Open and locate your background picture.

Select a Library - Under the Library menu choice, select the appropriate library from the dropdown menu.

Select an Object - To place an object on the background image, double-click the object's thumbnail image or just drag-n-drop the thumbnail image onto the background image.

Adjust Objects - After an object has been placed on the background it can be modified using DesignWare's design tools. In this example, the two objects were resized and repositioned. The flowering shrub, American Maritima Sea Pink, was place in the clay pot on the deck and the other shrub was flipped horizontally and placed next to the right side of the deck.

CAD2 Picture

CAD2Picture is a unique process using DesignWare 3.3 to make a photo-realistic picture from a 2D site plan CAD drawing. The drawing could have been created using our Planscape program or by any of the other 2D CAD programs on the market. CAD2Picture is a simple alternative to the complicated 3D CAD programs that usually create elevated drawings that are somewhat 'cartoonish' with a limited inventory of 3D symbols.

The CAD2Picture process is a simple way to produce a photo-realistic illusion of 3D.

green The process involves starting DesignWare 3.3 with a white background and importing a 2D CAD drawing into DesignWare 3.3 as a large object. The following site plan drawing will be used as an example
